Your 2024 Passport Funding is about to Expire!
OMG! How did it get to be March already? Oh, how the time flies when you’re having fun! Speaking of fun… have you been using your Passport funding throughout the year? Have you gone far and wide and explored the things in the community that get you excited?
We certainly hope so!
Did you know that Passport funding doesn’t ‘roll over’ to the next Fiscal Year? Nope. If you don’t use it, as the saying goes, you lose it. This means that whatever funding you do not use by March 31, 2025 goes back to the government and starting on April 1st, you have a new budget. So, if you are struggling with ideas to spend the funding, keep reading. Let’s get creative together!
Get Techy!
Technology can help us in so many different ways. It can help us to communicate, to keep time and stay on schedule, to make and maintain friends, and to experiment. Think beyond the BIG 3 (laptop, desktop and tablet). Most people have access to those. But do you have access to a karaoke machine? A sewing machine or Cricut machine to support your crafting? How about a Fit Bit? Something to help keep you moving and motivated. Even electronic readers to help to keep you informed can be paid for with passport funding. Technology opens a lot of doors for us. Spend some time checking it out. If it has a plug, it is tech. And if you’re not sure if it’s covered, we can help!
Get Busy!
Community participation supplies can help us to live a better life in the community and at home. Sometimes, we aren’t able to go out, so consider bringing items into your home that you can use regularly. Exercise equipment is another great option to spend your Passport Funding. Not comfortable in the gym? Buy a treadmill or rowing machine for home!
Sensory items can often help us to maintain positive mental health. Whether we use them inside our home or day to day in the community, being comfortable and feeling safe can go a long way.
Tired of sharing equipment?
How about purchasing your own? A bowling ball and some shoes, a bike or trike with a helmet or outdoor sporting equipment can be submitted. Whatever you enjoy, or would like to try, Passport funding can help to pave and pay the way. Be creative, explore and experiment! You never know when a new interest or passion will ignite, or when an old interest becomes new again.
