On Wednesday July 24th, Mike, Tony and Jim joined two of our Direct Support Workers Susan Deosaran and Donna Caldecott for a full day of festivities at the Mi Museum.
What is the Mi Museum?
The Mi Museum in Mississauga combines education with entertainment through its incredible exhibits focused on optical illusions. Here, there were a variety of interactive and mind-bending installations that allowed Tony and his friends to challenge their perceptions of reality while having fun and learning how the impossible can become possible!
What was the experience like?
The entire Mi Museum was fun and educational, and the staff at the Museum were very informative and engaging with the participants. “They gave us enough time to walk through and the staff were there to help so nobody felt rushed,” said Susan Deosaran. The main exhibits were very engaging and they even had smaller exhibits for people to be hands on.
The Mi Museum is “a place where you can let your imagination can run wild,” said Susan Deosaran. There were opportunities at almost every exhibit to take photos of each illusion and learn how it works. The group had a total blast and got a ton of awesome mind-bending pictures! For example, there were spots you could stand that made it look as though you were climbing the ceiling, cut in half, or shrunken down on a giant chair but it was actually just how the photo was flipped or how the room was set up! From body doubling mirrors to a giant interactive kaleidoscope, Donna Caldecott said, “the Mi Museum is “a fantastic adventure for all.”
What was everyone’s favourite part of the Mi Museum?
Tony said his favourite part was the, “galaxy exhibit.” Jim said his favourite was the “zero gravity” installation. Mike said his favourite part of the Mi Museum was “the mirror illusion” where he could see several reflections of himself all at once!
Would the group go again?
Both Tony and Jim called Susan the next day to rave about how much fun they had and that they were going to tell all their friends about it!
Jim said, the Mi Museum was “very memorable” and that he “enjoyed the experience.” Mike said, “I love it” and he wants all of his friends to go and experience it too! Tony said it was one of his “best trips ever” and that he would go again!
