Earlier this year, Bill-9 was introduced, proclaiming that a province-wide Nonprofit Sector Appreciation Week would take place yearly from February 14th-20th. The initiative was spearheaded by the Bhayana Foundation in collaboration with Capacity Canada, United Way Greater Toronto, Ontario Nonprofit Network, and MPP Daisy Wai. We joined numerous organizations across Ontario in celebrating the nonprofit sector through messages of gratitude, stories from employees (including some of our own!), and fun live-streamed events.
Across the province, there are nearly 850,000 nonprofit employees. Here at KW Habilitation, we are proud to be home to just over 500 of these individuals. Our Habbers improve community connection, create innovative solutions that uplift the people we support, and pave the way to a brighter future for us all. They are deeply compassionate and put their all into everything they do at KW Hab. We are so extremely grateful for everything our Habbers have done to support our community, especially during the past two years which were even more difficult due to the pandemic. It is because of our fantastic team that we can continue building a community where everyone belongs and participates.
While we aren’t entirely sure what the future will hold, we are certain our nonprofit heroes will continue to do amazing things that build up our community and our people. The dedication and selflessness that is shown every day deserves to be celebrated, and that is exactly what Nonprofit Sector Appreciation Week allows us to do. We hope that in years to come, we can continue building on the great work the Bhayana Foundation started, so that we can find new ways to uplift our nonprofit heroes.
