There will be a Bachata Dance class from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM to get you ready to dance the night away. Invite your friends, your family, and celebrate together with good music, great people, and plenty of dancing!

​​Sweet dreams are made of cheese… the KW Mac & Cheese Festival is back by popular demand! Indulge in some warm cheesy goodness paired with a cold craft beer or cocktails from local breweries. Admission tickets include your tasting passport, a beer tasting glass, activities, games, exhibitions, and lots of fun! Music in the Lounge is a weekly series for all of the music enjoyers in the community. Each week there will be live music featuring members and associates of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. This week is features musicians Brian Baty and Ian Whitman playing the standup bass. Come and see what’s sure to be a spectacular performance.

Join in some bowling at the Kingpin Bowlounge. After bowling, you can enjoy a Boston Pizza lunch. Staff support will also get lunch for an additional $5/staff. Lunch includes unlimited fountain pop, two slices of pizza, and garden salad. If you have any dietary needs, please let the Sunbeam recreation staff know. This is a wonderful way to socialize with others in the community! Cost includes admission to the bowling alley and shoes if needed. Lunch is an additional cost.

Adapted Céilí Dance

Céilí dancing has a long history in Ireland and has been central to socializing and celebrations. This adapted Céilí class will use traditional Irish music, but with slower tempos, and traditional Irish dance steps with modifications to make the dances more accessible. Our céilí caller is Marjorie Hopkins. She has been teaching Irish dance for over a decade and specializes in adaptive Irish dance. This event is designed for families to dance together and share in the joy that is Irish dance. Dance is for everybody and the IRL Festival extends this invitation to all who long to dance!

Matthew Balk is a bit of a celebrity around Stanley Park Community Centre. He works for the Stanley Park Community Association as a volunteer. Through his job, Matthew started a free program called “Coffee and Games with Matt“. People gather together each week to play board games and enjoy a warm beverage. The program is great for anyone who wants to get out, socialize and have some fun.

When asked why he decided to start running this program, Matthew said “I want to meet new people”. Matthew describes himself as an “open book” and will have a great conversation with absolutely anyone. His program flyers describe the program as “Friendly to people of all skill levels and open to everyone”.

The group has room for new members as well. If you would like to join Coffee and Games with Matt you can register for free at the front desk when you arrive. The program runs at at Stanley Park Community Centre every Tuesday from 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM.
