There are different types of jobs at KW Habilitation, with varying schedules depending on the position. For example, a Resource Consultant working in our Early Learning department can expect to work Monday – Friday for approximately 8 hours/day. Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s) who provide “in-home” support can expect to work different schedules that reflect our 24/7 services. These schedules are generally 8 hour shifts that can include a variety of day, evening, and weekend shifts depending on the position/location. KW Habilitation also hires full-time and part-time employees to work overnight shifts.
Some of our current employees said:

- “Working overnight shifts is challenging. It can feel a bit isolated, so you have to make sure to communicate with your team members who work in the daytime hours”
- “The most challenging part of my role as a Direct Support Professional with KW Habilitation would be trying to make the dreams of the people I support come true.”

A positive experience is seeing someone happy because a repair or an upgrade made their day easier. It’s a great reminder of why the work matters.
KW Hab is a great place to work because it’s a solid team where everyone actually cares about the community. It’s a supportive atmosphere where you feel like a person, not just a number on a payroll.
I love fostering the independence of the people that I support, which enables them to participate and contribute meaningfully in their community – and most importantly, to live high-quality lives they want to live!
The learning we get every day at work is a new experience, even after 3 years in the organization. It’s fruitful to help people supported do what the rest of us can do, and the small tasks they do are proud moments for them.
In previous roles, I had the opportunity to plan outings and events and support people while getting out into the community. Some of the best days at work were spent laughing together, exploring new places, and seeing the confidence people gained just by being included in their community. Those moments showed me how powerful belonging and inclusion truly are. In my current role, I support people who are very independent, and they’ve taught me something incredibly important – sometimes the best support we can give is knowing when to step back and let someone lead their own life. Watching people make their own choices and take pride in their independence is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Working at KW Habilitation has shaped me not just as a support worker, but as a person. The people we support inspire me every single day, and I’m proud to be part of a community where everyone is accepted, valued, and encouraged to live the life they choose. At the end of the day, the people we support may not realize it, but they are the ones who make us better humans.
Seeing someone try something new, develop a skill, or take steps toward employment or greater independence is truly amazing. I love watching people grow over time – when someone who was once unsure of themselves begins speaking up about what they want and taking ownership of their goals. Being able to support that kind of growth is what makes the work so impactful.
One thing that really stands out is the open-door culture. I can walk into a supervisor or manager’s office anytime — whether I have a question, need guidance, or just need to talk through a tough day.
After almost 20 years in early education, that kind of support is rare and so refreshing.
KW Hab is a great place to work because leadership truly cares. There’s understanding, flexibility (especially for parents!), and a real focus on staff well-being. It makes you feel valued — not just as an employee, but as a person.
KW Habilitation is committed to developing an inclusive, barrier-free selection process and work environment. We seek to provide accessibility for all applicants with disabilities consistent with our accessibility policies and the AODA. Please let us know if you require accommodations and we will work with you to meet your accessibility needs.
