More Than a Place to Live
When we talk about housing at KW Habilitation, we’re actually talking about two different, but equally important, areas of our work: Inclusive Living and affordable housing. While both are connected to having a place to call home, they serve different purposes.

Inclusive Living: Support That Reflects the Person
For people who receive Inclusive Living supports, home is about much more than having a roof overhead. It’s about choice, comfort, relationships and having support that reflects what matters to them.
KW Habilitation works alongside adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of living arrangements, providing individualized supports based on their needs, preferences and goals.
That might mean support with everyday routines, making decisions, maintaining relationships, exploring interests or participating in the community. No two people are exactly alike, and neither is the support they receive.
Affordable Housing: Creating More Places to Call Home
KW Habilitation is also involved in creating affordable housing opportunities in Waterloo Region. This work responds to a different community need: access to housing that people can afford.
While Inclusive Living focuses on individualized supports, affordable housing focuses on the availability of housing itself. The two can sometimes intersect, but they aren’t the same thing. By investing in affordable housing, KW Habilitation is helping address one of the most significant challenges facing people and families across our community.
Different Approaches, a Shared Purpose
Whether we’re working alongside someone to make their own choices at home or helping create more affordable places to live, both areas of our work reflect a shared belief: everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, valued and connected.
And that’s an important part of building a community where everyone belongs.
