At KW Habilitation, our new strategic plan didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began with people. The people who live this work every day. The people we support. Their families. Our staff. Our partners. Our community.

We believe that the strongest plans are shaped by real experiences and by listening deeply to the voices that matter most. That belief guided how this plan came to life.

Listening First

Working with Holly Hendershot and Christa Haanstra, we brought together a wide range of perspectives from across our community. Through conversations, surveys, interviews, and shared planning sessions, we asked important questions:

• What’s working well?

• Where do we need to grow?

• What matters most for the future?

The responses were thoughtful, honest, and incredibly valuable. In total, more than 220 people helped shape this plan, ensuring it reflects not just ideas, but lived experiences, shared priorities, and a collective vision for what comes next. Every voice contributed to a clearer understanding of who we are today and who we want to become.

The plan will reflect the belief that people with developmental disabilities are not simply included, they are active members of our community. People whose ideas, talents, relationships, and perspectives help shape and strengthen the communities we all share. This is the future we are working toward.

What Comes Next

Starting this Fall, we’ll be sharing more about our strategic plan; our priorities, our goals, and how we’ll bring this vision to life. The plan will be shared in plain language and available to everyone.

For now, we want to recognize and thank everyone who contributed their voice, their experience, and their perspective. We’ll be sending each of those people an update on the final plan. This plan belongs to all of us.
